Latest Technology Watch-DARPA'S Drone Dodge-Obstacles, Fly At Highest Speed

The drone revolution wants less pilots. the majority small unmanned aerial vehicles need at least 1 human being operating them to fly properly, with the pilot minimally removed. That’s well for many things, but if we want drones to do fresh tasks, they require to fly on their own. Quick Light-weight Autonomy (F.L.A) is a program from the military's Defense highly developed Research Projects Agency (D.A.R.P.A) with a very straight forward purpose: make drones that can fly fast, and navigate obstacles on their own.
How fast? In the G.I.F above, that’s a drone flying at 45 (mph), or 20 meters per second. That's 10 miles-an-hour  quicker than the recent DJI Phantom 3 and just 5 (mph) slower than the new Parrot fixed-wing drone, the Disco. And it’s not just flying fast, it’s carrying with it a fairly functional payload of cameras and (LIDAR)

The FLA program is developing a fresh class of algorithms meant at enable small UAVs to rapidly find the way a labyrinth of rooms, stairways & corridors or extra obstacle-filled environments with-out a distant pilot.
